My Truth 365_54 – Pain Meds and GERD

My face, ear, neck, and brain hurt as the numbness wore off Friday evening from the wisdom tooth extraction. I was exhausted from being in pain, so I did what anyone would do to relieve themselves. I took what the doctor prescribed.

As I shared in a previous post, I have issues with gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). I knew better than to take Ibuprofen, Tylenol 3, and Amoxicillin at the same time while preparing to lie down and sleep for a few hours. I did it anyway. Whoa! Big mistake!

I awoke Saturday morning unable to swallow. My esophagus was totally inflamed and I could only sip water. I was hungry and irritable at best. Another rough day ahead!

Sipping liquid antacid brought me some relief over time. I graduated from that to a strawberry banana smoothie (specially made by a very kind Starbucks Barista). No, they do not sell smoothies. He was just kind enough to make me one.

The spot where the tooth was removed felt pretty good; especially when the cold smoothie was passing by. My throat was fine, but the rest of my digestive system has me concerned…
